Remote Access/Screen Shots Lab

1. Use a web browser to connect to the classroom Guacamole server at https://guac.nl.northweststate.edu
2. Login to the Guacamole server using your username and password
3. Login to the nlstu-s1.nl.northweststate.edu remote server using your username and password
4. Open a terminal session by right clicking on the Desktop then clicking the Open in Terminal icon
5. Type the command id followed by the <ENTER> key on your keyboard
6. Move your mouse out of the nlstu-s1.nl.northweststate.edu remote server window and back to the host
   • You may need to reduce the size of the Remote Desktop Connection window in order to see the desktop of the host computer
7. On your local computer start the Snip & Sketch or Snipping Tool program
8. Click the New Snip button located in the upper-left hand corner of the window
9. Take a screen shot of the nlstu-s1.nl.northweststate.edu remote server by dragging a box around the nlstu-s1.nl.northweststate.edu remote server window in your web browser
10. Click the Save as button
• This button is found at the upper right hand corner of the screen and looks like a floppy diskette
11. Type yourusername into the File name: field
• Make sure you use your username (i.e. jbob) not the text yourusername
12. Click the Save button
13. Upload this file to the class web site ( Example )

Grading:

• (4) - Screen shot shows a Linux desktop
• (2) - Your name is shown in the screen shot
• (2) - The screen shot has the correct name
